Lawrence Music Alliance with the Heartland Song Network and with support from the Doug DuBois Harmony is presenting a Private Showcase Room spotlighting artists from Lawrence and Douglas County, KS at the Folk Alliance International Conference, Feb 21-25, 2024.
Through a juried and curated process, a roster of artists based in Lawrence, Kansas were selected for conference scholarships. The artists below will be performing showcase slots in the Lawrence Free State Private Showcase Room, room 609 in the Westin at Crown Center, Wed Feb 22nd - Sat Feb 25th, 2024.

Alex Kimball Williams (she/they) is an artivist (artist + activist) whose work centers creativity as a social justice skill. Her work reimagines traditional Indigenous motifs on synthesizers with elements of meditation. Her work blends poetry & music while examining topics such as climate justice, Indigenous worldviews, & mental health.
Singer/songwriter, Christena Graves draws from her childhood spent wandering the woods and waters of Michigan and a her keen observation of the human condition to write anthemic melodies and introspective stories. Her songs paint a picture of the inner landscape of a woman wrestling with life, love, and hope
Folk in the Flow
With original, uplifting and heartfelt tunes, Folk in the Flow weaves lyrical harmonies into colorful and rhythmic soundscapes. Songwriters, Buck Brandt and Holly Taylor are dedicated to creating music that bridges the divide. As lifelong artists, their grassroots expression delves deeply into the Flow: the music of life.
Miki P is a Midwest-based musician, multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and performer. Her melodious roots stem from classic to modern rock and pop, which you can hear influenced throughout her songs, and she is known for her captivating stage presence and melancholy musical compositions.
MoonShroom is the star crossed culmination of dreams and songs from two free spirited artists. Liberated expression & genuine songwriting is at the core of this dynamic project. Blazing into the stratosphere of sound, the group expands on the Americana genre — while paying homage to American roots music. Spencer & Rains
Spencer & Rains are old-time musicians raised in the music of their families. Tricia Spencer is a Kansas fiddler who learned knee to knee from her grandparents. Howard Rains is an artist and fiddler originally from Texas. Together they blend their fiddles into a unique voice in folk music.
Sweet Lil and the Nothings
Sweet Lil and the Nothings is an original band from Kansas consisting of Lily Frances, Zach Shoffner, and Brandon Day. Well traveled and versed in entertaining both intimate and large audiences separately, their collective experience boasts versatility while blending together the sounds of Americana, folk, and roots music.
