Part-time Contract Position (30 hours per month)

Overview:
The Lawrence Music Alliance is seeking a team member to support our not-for-profit mission to use the framework of music ecosystem development to engage the music community, advocate on behalf of musicians and creatives, and act as a vital intermediary between the creative economy and the city of Lawrence, KS.

LMA is a small and dynamic team that is looking for an energetic, swift communicator who enjoys utilizing digital tools to tell stories and engage our members. A team member who works independently, responds quickly and enjoys collaboration will excel in this role.
The Communications & Membership coordinator is a part-time contract position supporting our team in maintaining communications for LMA, developing and managing the membership program, and supporting general programming and communications. The position supports the Events & Outreach Manager in planning and implementing social media campaigns, email marketing, documentation and content creation related to LMA activities. This role will coordinate the design and implementation of LMA’s membership program. Tasks will include database management, communications and marketing. The position can expect to learn about and serve LMA artists and industry members with the ultimate goal of promoting and connecting our music ecosystem.
The role is supervised by the LMA Director, with an expectation of 30 hours per month, with wide latitude on schedule flexibility and self-managed time. The contract fee is $4,050 for a 9 month contract, to be invoiced monthly. Expected start date is April 1st, 2026.

Responsibilities:

Coordinate social media posts, manage social accounts.

Photography and videography at events.

Develop digital/social assets, documentation, content creation.

Manage member database, update profiles, communicate with members.

Support team in monthly newsletters and email marketing.

Represent LMA publicly, contribute to program development, have ideas!

Skills:

Quick and effective communication, independent time management.

Web design & CMS (WIX), graphic design (Canva, Photoshop), database (Google Suite, Excel).

Knowledge and passion for local music community.

Knowledge of self-employment laws and practices preferred.
