An Abundance of Opportunities for You and Your Music this Fall

One big part of our work with Lawrence Music Alliance is to make sure our music community is connected with the variety of tools and opportunities available for artists and musicians.


As the chaos of a hectic summer season comes to a close and we begin planning for fall and - gulp - 2027, artists and musicians in Lawrence and the region have a ton of amazing opportunities to apply for funding, get training and make the most of resources to do more with your art.


This fall, that looks like grants to create new art, training to improve practices, state-wide and regional connections, and even funding for music venues. See the list below, and check out upcoming Music Alliance events or reach out with questions.

Artist INC Lawrence:

8 week Artist Development Workshop


Artist INC is a cutting edge training program that empowers artists to take control of their careers and create opportunities they’ve only imagined. Artist INC addresses the specific business needs and challenges artists of all disciplines face every day. Gathering for one night a week for eight weeks, participants learn business skills specific to their art practice and how to apply those skills cooperatively with their peers. Using a groundbreaking class design, artists learn and grow together through artist facilitator mentoring, small group application activities, as well as large group discussion and multi-media lecture.

Artist Inc and Mid America Arts Alliance present “What Works”, a free 2-hour workshop at Lawrence Arts Center on September 17th at 5:30pm, centered on building sustainable careers in the arts. Utilizing the experience of past Artist Inc members, the workshop will include discussion of goal setting, strategic communications, financial planning, and more!




ArtsKC: Inspiration Grants


Applications are open for ArtsKC Inspiration Grants! These are project grants for individual artists or small groups of artists. The purpose of these grants is to support ambitious projects of risk, growth, and change for the artist and/or projects that make a positive impact on the community.


Visual, dance, music, theater, literature/poetry, fashion, film, and interdisciplinary art applications are welcome.

The deadline to apply is September 10th, 2026!




Mid-America Arts Alliance Artistic Innovations Grant


The Artistic Innovations Grant Program supports the development of new, original works in the Mid-America Arts Alliance (M-AAA) six-state region: Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Texas. This grant encourages experimentation across artistic disciplines.


Through Artistic Innovations, individual artists and nonprofit arts organizations can apply for grants of up to $15,000 to create and present new work.


Application deadline is September 24th



FOR KANSAS ARTISTS


Kansas Touring Artist Roster Application


To promote Kansas artists and ensure that every Kansas community has access to high-quality arts programming, the Kansas Arts Commission maintains approved rosters of Kansas-based artists, touring companies, and ensembles. Kansas artists interested in expanding opportunities to share their work with communities across the state are encouraged to prepare for the upcoming application period.

Live Music Society: Toolbox Grant

The deadline to apply for a Live Music Society Toolbox Grant is September 16th! Toolbox grants are designed to provide support for the practical needs of music venues. With funding up to $10,000, the Toolbox grant empowers venues to elevate the live music experience for musicians, staff, and audiences by addressing a practical challenge.
